The processing difficulty is the most obvious difference between the two types of punch heads. Simply put, circular punch heads are easy to process, while irregular punch heads are laborious to process.
Let's talk about circular punch first. Its processing difficulty is really low. How low is it? Whether it is a small workshop or a legitimate manufacturer, as long as they have basic processing equipment, they can produce qualified circular PUNCHES. Because the structure of the circular punch is too simple, it is cylindrical as a whole, and the tip of the punch is also circular. Whether it is turning, grinding, or polishing, the process is very routine, and does not require complex programming and precise debugging. It is fast and simple to process.
When Jingbo produces circular punch heads, there is almost no need to design them separately for conventional specifications. They can directly use ready-made drawings and complete the processing procedures in one go. The error can be easily controlled within 0.005mm, and the batch production efficiency is extremely high. It can produce hundreds of punches per day, fully meeting the conventional punching needs of most manufacturers. Even for precision circular punch heads, as long as the grinding accuracy and surface polishing are well controlled, they can easily meet the standards, and the processing difficulty can be almost negligible.
But the alien punch is completely different, its processing difficulty can surpass that of a circular punch by several streets. The so-called irregular punch refers to punch heads that are not circular, such as squares, triangles, ellipses, and various irregular shapes, such as SPECIAL hole patterns required on automotive and electronic parts, and corresponding punch heads are all irregular.
The difficulty in processing irregular shaped punches lies in their irregular shape and difficulty in controlling precision. Firstly, unlike circular punch heads, irregular punch heads cannot be completed using conventional turning and grinding processes. They require precise design drawings, programming according to the irregular shape, and then processing with precision equipment such as CNC machining centers and wire cutting. Each process needs to be repeatedly debugged, and even a slight deviation can render the entire punch head useless.
For example, in the customized order of irregular punch received by Jingbo, it takes 1-2 days just to design the drawings, and the programming needs to be repeatedly checked. During the processing, the accuracy needs to be monitored in real time, such as the corners, radians, and cutting edges of the irregular punch. Each part must be accurately controlled without any deviation, otherwise the stamped parts will deform and have burrs exceeding the standard. Moreover, irregular punch heads cannot be mass-produced and are mostly customized. The processing cycle is much longer than that of circular punch heads. Conventional irregular punch heads have a processing cycle of 3-5 days, and complex ones can even take more than a week.
Here is a message to say to everyone: not all manufacturers can produce qualified shaped punch heads. Many small manufacturers do not have precision machining equipment, nor do they have professional programming and design teams. The shaped punch heads produced are not standard in shape and accuracy, and are prone to needle breakage and wear, making them more expensive to use.
